you can smoke/drive/vote/marry without parents/watch porn (even make one lol) when you are 18 but you cant drink til youre 21

yea at times like this.. it sucks to be an american -_- haha

so this thanksgiving was just like any other (plus drinking wine legally haha)

first off, my awesome Korean parents do not feed me turkey on thanksgiving

YES, you read that correctly, no turkey on my thanksgiving!

ok before you start leaving ferocious comments about not doing the right thing on thanksgiving or that i am too asian and blahblahblah

my mom justifies this action by saying

"turkeys are too dry, whats the point of eating dried chicken" haha shes awesome like that

(no in reality im sure she just doesnt know how to cook that damn thing

and our oven is used as a storage device)

so yea we ate chicken and mashed potatoes (at least this was legit) and watched tv

I KNOW.. we are so damn holiday spirited woohoo

its unbelievable (that was sarcasm if you didnt catch it)

anyway i am very thankful for..

i really really really love the 50's

the art and design from this period is sooooooo damnnnnn awesome

it's so significant to me cause everything seems so perfect from this time
the colors are so vivid and perfect
the fashion is so perfect, perfectly shaped and fitted
they are flawlessly groomed
they talk in a perfect tone

they use perfect words

everything is so damn perfect

at times it feels like folks from the 50's lived a life that was filled with sarcasm..

even to the point where it freaks me out cause they are so robotic
it's so perfect, it's so weird, yet it's so fantastic

i think 50's represent the perfect idealized human living..
humans that are so perfect that they are almost like robots
which leads to how futurism was so significant in this period

esp since it was a decade right before men were sent to the moon
what's crazy is that despite the fact its been 60 years since then
the futuristic living they imagined is still not available...
such a shame :/

but yea, i want that kind of perfect living..
living in my perfect little kitchen that bakes a cake in a heart beat

the weather was very not-LA-summer-y

it was cool in the afternoon and it even got pretty chill at night

and then BAM

about two weeks ago mother nature slapped me right across the face

its dry and humid (yea they're not suppose to be together so you get how abnormal the weather is lol)

its so hot that im like coughing up sweat

i would be sitting in my room with the AC on and i would still be sweating like a monkey haha

to my amazement, i still get visitors despite the fact that i haven't updated in a month

the visitors did go down by 60% but im so surprised that there are still the 40%

i have been very lazy with updating this blog

at first i wanted this blog to be like one of those crazy blogs

the dinner was good

but they didn't let me take pictures for 'confidential' issues -_-

i think asians are the most overlooked people when it comes to fashion

when you say FASHION it's always somewhere in the europe

and all the street fashions are either from the states or some part of UK

but i truly think aisans can dress themselves as well

if you think about it.. all the products at Forever 21 are all from asia (get my point yet? lol)

and out of all those asians

koreans have some good style

i think in art or design everything is in a big circle

everything goes around and around

black & white photos are coming back

skinny jeans+nike dunks; the trend in the 80's came back last year and is still continuing today

big shoulder paddings that everyone thought that would never come back

came back this year

so i think all the designers and artists are inspired from one another

as a person that does graphic design

one of my biggest inspiration right now is

Steve Kelly

known for his design SKD, his art is just so cool

they are so simple but still has all the elements necessary for a magnificient design

the usage of negative space&postitive space is just so smart as well

i went to disneyland today with one of my best friend (honeybunny :D)

and had a blast!

despite the fact that we went on a NATIONAL HOLIDAY

i got to go on space mountain and matterhorn twice (thats all it matters haha)

and screamed my lungs out on all my stress built for the past 6 months lol

ate some good food

today was a beautiful sunny day

i walked outside to throw away the trash

and it was a fantastic california sunny weather with a bit of breeze

so i had to take my camera outside

these are the shots of the trees around my house

they are all huge and a bit...naked lol

every year around this time

they cut the branches on all the trees around my house

so these trees look a little 'naked' with its 'makeover'

i just sat around the tree and enjoyed the summer morning breeze

how can you go on a week without a little retail therapy?

when i walked into a shop and saw this shirt

i couldn't resist but to get my hands on it haha

it was the last one left (only one in the whole store!)

so i tried it on with a doubt

but it actually fit perfectly

recently i havnt been getting shirts with a lot of graphic on it

cuz i'm trying to keep my shirts simple

but this one was a total beauty

and i wore it today and even got compliments from 2 total strangers

SPACE15TWENTY is a shopping area/courtyard/mini outdoor mall on sunset blvd.

it has really nice urban clothing stores and a design bookstore including a snackbar

its chic & modern making it seem like a nice back alley of london or newyork

of course i shopped but not until i dropped

i enjoy shopping but not the empty wallet

so i controlled myself

i just bought 2 flannels and a shirt (which i will update soon)

now can i get a pat on my back? haha

and then grabbed a bite at jack in the box

darn those curly fries

so fattening

but so good

2 guilty pleasures in one day

like i confessed couple entries ago

i have a thing for fedoras (and many other things haha)

i dont wear them often

but fedoras are so tempting when they are nicely sitting on the shop shelves

i cannot just pass by one without taking them home

they can be worn in formal suit wears or just casual wear to spice things up

at times when i'm just wearing a simple v-neck and skinny jeans

just wearing a fedora makes a whole lot of difference

so this recent purchase(s) show my addiction to fedoras

i couldnt make up my mind on the colors

so i just got all three lol

it was a great deal though (trying to justify my actions lol)

so i couldnt resist but get all three

and i only have black/gray/tan colored fedoras

so these dark navy/dark olive/dark brown fedoras are a must get for my fedora collection

(justifying my actions again haha)

plus look at that great detail in the feather,

just amazing

who said fashion ends with a great pair of shoes?

this is the FW'09 line by a Korean designer SANG-BEG HA

(known for his brand HA:SANG;BEG)

he is one of my favorite korean designers

SANG-BEG is not only famous among FASHION people

but famous in the ENTERTAINMENT business as well

he's been getting a lot of attention being the stylist for

a 'contemporary' korean boy band called SHINee

couple days ago

me and a friend chowed down all these delicious yum-yums in a heartbeat

also known as korean bbq

if you live anywhere near where there are tons of asians

or should i say koreans

you probably heard of korean bbq

and if you haven't

sorry but you are terribly missing out :(

korean bbq is basically

all these kinds of different meat

(beef/pork/spicy pork/korean bacon/chicken/steak/etc.)

all cooked on the table ready to go down to your stomach

served with tons of salad so no worries about blood clogging lol

lots of people complain about the 'smell' after you eat korean bbq cuz of all the meat cooking

but you don't complain about the greasy food at dimsum place or the high prices at a sushi bar

so why complain about korean bbq? haha

everything comes with a consequence :)

i love interiors

and among interiors i have a thing for lofts

i've always dreamed of living in a loft

not a fancy 3 story house with a big garden or a luxurious apartment

but a simple loft

doesnt matter if its small

just the fact that it has an upperstory that you can look down on with high ceilings

turns me on

lol

but if you can't afford a loft

i think these kind of furnitures will do its job

they are the perfect alternative to loftless places

i really like the fact that it's like a small island

just with your bed and your desk

all secluded in your own world a little closer to the sky haha

i love the santa monica beach

it has the beach + shopping area

life doesnt get any better

what more can i ask for? haha

it might not be the perfect paradise beach like those ones at Hawaii or Fiji but its a nice affordable(?) getaway beach. it's 15mins away from downtown LA so when one needs the beach breeze just go on the 10fwy and drive down with some good music on and you'll be at Santa Monica.

the beach is always nice to go to. especially when they have good shops like the third street promenade. theres fashion, food, and even design book shops. what seriously more can i ask for?
